Jean-Baptiste Poirson was a French geographer, cartographer, engineer and globe-maker. He worked closely with a number of geographers and explorers during his career, including Alexander von Humboldt and Conrad Malte-Brun, and made globes for notable figures like the dauphin for Louis XVI and Napoleon Bonaparte.
