Alessandro Mastro-Valerio

1889-1953

Alessandro Mastro-Valerio was an Italian-American artist. He is perhaps best known for his mezzotints and female nudes. Mastro-Valerio immigrated to the United States in 1913, where he lived and worked as a commercial artist in Chicago for a time. By 1919, he moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he worked as an art professor at Ypsilanti Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) and the University of Michigan.
