Peter Moran

Peter Moran was a painter and etcher, born in Bolton, England. He is the youngest brother of artists Thomas and Edward Moran. His family immigrated to the United States in 1844, where they settled in Philadelphia. At the age of sixteen, Moran briefly apprenticed at the lithographic firm Herline and Hersel, but soon left to study with his brothers, who were established etchers in the city.

Moran traveled extensively in New Mexico, Arizona and the Tetons, and was occasionally accompanied by his brothers. He is best known for his landscapes and animal subjects.
