1927-
Sheila Isham is an American artist, born in New York, New York. She studied at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and later at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, Germany. After completing her education in Berlin, Isham and her husband, Heyward, an American diplomat, traveled and lived in various part of the world, including Russia, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Haiti, before settling down in New York in the late 1970s.
Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries and major institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her work can be found in the likes of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and New Orleans; the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC; San Francisco Museum of Art, CA; National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC; High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA; Baltimore Museum of Art, MD; and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN.
