Pierre-Francois Hugues d'Hancarville

Pierre-François Hugues d'Hancarville, also known as Baron d'Hancarville, was a French art and intellectual historian. With the help of British ambassador William Hamilton, who had a rather large collection of ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan vases, d'Hancarville set about compiling the multi-volume series "Antiquities Etrusques" which discussed the vases and their artwork at length.
