English born artist whose series of "atmospheric landscapes" depicting 1830's America was widely heralded for its originality and stunning imagery. In 1834 Harvey began a series of forty watercolors of North American landscapes from Virginia to Canada and westward to Ohio and Michigan. These watercolors recorded certain times of the day and specific weather patterns bringing forth the name, atmospheric landscapes.
