Augustus Waldeck Buhler was an American painter based in Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Born In New York City in 1853, he was the son of two German political refugees. After a brief period of art study in Europe, Buhler returned to the US where, in 1885, he spent his first summer at the Annisquam artist colony in Cape Ann. A little over a decade later, in 1898, he would open his own studio in East Gloucester.
