Michael Ponce de Leon

(1922 - 2006)

Michael Ponce de Leon was an American printmaker and teacher, born in Miami, Florida. He spent much of his youth living in Mexico, where studied at the University of Mexico City. After serving in World War II, he settled in New York City, where he continued his studies at the Art Students League, National Academy of Design and the School of the Brooklyn Museum. In 1967 he was a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship. He was also a member of the American Graphic Artists.
