Lawrence Louis Barrett was an American painter, printmaker and teacher. Born in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Barrett was formally trained at the Broadmoor Art Academy (now the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center), and later took up a position teaching etching and lithography there. Artists from around the country flocked to the school, drawn in by the allure of Colorado Springs and the American West. Birger Sandzen, Adolf Dehn, Laura Gilpin, and Charles Bunnell are just a few of the notable artists who also served as teachers at the Academy. Barrett co-authored the book "How to Draw and Print Lithographs" (1950) with Adolf Dehn.
