LeRoy H Appleton

eroy Appleton (1893-1982) was a prominent artist, designer and commercial artist during the 1920s through the 1940s when the printing of beautifully designed and illustrated books was practiced in the U.S. at its highest level. Appleton studied with George Bridgman at the Art Students’ League in New York before beginning his career in the commercial art world. His clients included the Colgate Company, General Motors and Sinclair oil among others. He did design work for the Limited Editions Club and the Colophon and frequently appeared in Fortune magazine with designs for maps.
