Doris Lee

1905-1983

Painter and printmaker was born on February 1, 1905 in Aledo, Illinois.  She studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and California School of Fine Arts.  She moved to the artist colony in Woodstock, New York staying there most of her life.  During the depression she painted murals in the United States Treasury Department and in the main post office.  Associated American Artists published most of her prints in the 1940-1960 period.  Her work is in many museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
