  • DESCRIPTION: An unusual advertising map issued in celebration of Ohio's Centennial by the William N. Whitely Company of Springfield. The map is dated 1888 and was printed by Rand, McNally Company. Below the title is an image of "Whitely's New Steel Mower" being pulled by two horses. On the verso is a large advertisement for "Whitely's Centennial 1889 Solid Steel Mower and Binder. The Most Perfect Machines on Earth." The map folds into original yellow paper covers with the dates 1788 - 1888. The covers are printed in red and black with vignette images that include a birds-eye view of the factory, a mower and binder machine.
