DESCRIPTION: Carter H. Harrison Jr (1860-1953) was the first city born Mayor of Chicago and served from 1897-1905 and then gain from 1911-1915. He tried running for president in 1904, but was beat out by another Democratic nominee - Alton Parker. His family bought out the Chicago Times in 1891.
