• DESCRIPTION: A highly decorative linen backed wall map of the United States. Printed on four separate sheets. The map, center historical images, and portraits on the left and right below the map are each separate sheets. The map and center historical images are stone engravings, the portraits left and right below the map are copper engravings. <BR><BR> The map is full of historical images including portraits of the first ten presidents, landing of the Pilgrims, Battle of Lexington, Battle of Bunker's Hill and Washington's farewell to the Army. Below that is a large image of the Declaration of Independence based on Trumbull's painting. To the left of the map are insets showing: The chief rivers of the world, A double hemisphere map of the world, Principal mountains of the world, The text of the Declaration of Independence and a key giving the names of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Cartographically the maps shows an evolving United States west of the Mississippi. A large Missouri territory, large Iowa territory, a truncated Texas and Wisconsin territory.
