Price: $650.00 Publisher : New publ. by N. Currier, 152 Nassau Street. "L. Maurer, del." Louis Maurer landed in New York from Germany in 1851. He was employed as a lithographer at T. W. Strong until being recruited by Nathanial Currier (Currier & Ives) where he produced over one hundred prints on different subjects including, Life of the Fireman, Preparing for Market, sporting prints of Horses among others. Maurer worked briefly with the lithographic publisher Major & Knapp before going into business with Frederick Heppenheimer forming Heppenheimer & Maurer, 1874 – 1885.
