DESCRIPTION: A fine map of Asia from Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern atlas of the world, first published in 1570. Cartographic information for this map was based on his wall map of 1567, which was in turn based on the work of Gastaldi and other sources.
ADDITIONAL INFO: This is the second, re-engraved plate that was published from 1575 onwards. Latin text on verso.
CONDITION: Good condition save for some splitting in the lower centerfold. Original hand coloring.
