Two insets: Vicinity of St. Louis and Vicinity of Galena, the Lead region and part of Wisconsin and Iowa. Additional inset texts describe Public Lands, Land Districts, and the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Engraved by S. Stiles & Co. N.York. Drawn on a scale of ten miles to an inch.<br><br> This important map of Illinois was first published in 1835, and republished in various states until 1869. It was one of the best and most detailed maps of Illinois during its time. It separates the region into differently colored counties, and includes towns of various sizes, topographical detail and commentary, travel routes such as ferries and railroads, mines, and private settlements.<br><br>
