  • DESCRIPTION: A nice example of Camden’s reduced version of Christopher Saxton's map of Huntingdonshire, This map appeared in the 1637 edition of Camden's Britannia. Camden first issued his Britannia in 1586, but did not include maps until the 1607 edition. The maps in the 1637 edition are essentially unchanged from the 1607 edition. Engraved by William Kip. William Camden (1551-1623) was an English historian, topographer and officer of Arms. He wrote the first chorographical survey of Great Britain and Ireland.
