  • DESCRIPTION: A handsome and quite scarce advertising map of the world. This map was published by the Union Pacific Railroad and shows all the routes taken by them in the continental United States. It also gives distances and route lines taken by steamship routes around the world.<br><br> Along the lower edge are inset maps. Left to right they are: Philippine Islands and the China Sea; Hawaii.; North Eastern China; Cuba; Puerto Rico with smaller maps of SanJuan, the Islands east of Puerto Rico. On either side of the title are title shields, "Union Pacific, The Overland Route, Worlds Pictorial Line.; Oregon Short Line R.R. Co., Oregon R.R. & Navigation Co., Southern Pacific."<br><br> This cataloger noted two dates, both of which are on the inset maps, 1898 & 1899. Oklahoma is still shown as two sections with Indian Territory in the east, which follows the Organic Act of 1890. The Klondike Region in north-western Canada, eastern Alaska is noted in heavy dark type.


  • CONDITION: Some small areas of loss, primarily along the upper edge and some tattering along the sides. Overall it is in quite good condition for a roller map of the period.
