  • DESCRIPTION: A finely engraved large-scale wall map of the world centered on North America. This map gives an amazing amount of information. It shows all the countries of the world, many of which are delineated with hand coloring. Each U.S. State is separately colored. Hundreds of place names are given as well as the tracts of many important explorers, from Cook and Vancouver to Lieut. Lt. William Walker of the U.S. Exploring Expedition. Surrounding the map is a large scrollwork border interspersed with eight views of cities from around the world. They are Havana, Cuba; Alexandria, Egypt; Constantinople, Bordeaux; Venice; Hong Kong; Rio Janeiro and King Po. On the sides are four views of important vertical structures in the world including the Porcelian Palice, Nankin and the ruins of Karnac. A table of distances in Greenland's blank interior.
