  • DESCRIPTION: In his book, Bassham attributes Riggs initiation into lithography and his fascination with boxing to the influence of George Bellows. After a 1931 exhibition of Bellow's prints in his home town of Philadelphia, Riggs turned out his first lithograph, "Before the Fight." By 1934 he completed a total of 26 prints showing prize fights.
