  • DESCRIPTION: Printed by G. W. Lewis, New York. Steers designed this innovative craft for the members of the New York Yacht Club (formed in 1844). After the America's victory in the 1851 Royal Yacht Squadron Cup, the NYYC took home a trophy cup which they named after the schooner. To this day, the "America's Cup" remains a symbol of world yachting supremacy.
