Printed in red ink are symbols marking the locations of airfields (aircraft), naval installations (anchor), and barracks, camps, forts, and posts (square). Blue lines indicate the network of single and double track railroads in operation at the time. Inset maps in the lower corners show Union Pacific Railroad connections across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. On the verso is an alphabetical index listing all military bases featured on the map.
