The map presents North America in rich detail and vibrant original color, surrounded by a finely engraved calligraphic border. An inset at lower left features the Hawaiian Islands, referred to at the time as the Sandwich Islands. A bright, clean impression from one of the most visually distinctive American atlases of the 19th century.
