DESCRIPTION: Signed and titled in pencil.

The image shows the 125th Street entrance to the 1 train, the only station on the Manhattan Valley Viaduct, which runs between 122nd and 135th Streets. This viaduct is part of the New York City Subway system; the topography of Manhattanville necessitated it. The Third Avenue Streetcar ran along Manhattan Street, so the viaduct had to be redesigned with a double-hinged arch to allow the streetcar to continue running. The station opened in 1904.

Purchase Award - 2018: The Society of American Graphic Artists Annual Exhibition.
