  • DESCRIPTION: A nice example of this pocket map of the Mid Atlantic region, hand colored by counties, with large insets of the vicinities of Philadelphia, Lancaster, Pittsburg and Lehigh and Schuylkill coal regions.<br><br> Map includes towns, roads, railroads, both current and proposed, mountains, rivers, lakes, distances along main roads and other details. . Folds into 16mo red cloth covers with gilt title.<br><br> This is a rare state of the map issued by Thomas, Cowpertwait & Co. Cowperthwait officially purchased the rights from Mitchell for his map production in 1850. This map is dated 1949 making it a very early example.

  • CONDITION: Good condition save for three small stains just to the left of the title. Some minor splits along fold intersections. Original hand coloring.
