DESCRIPTION: Important map of the Sabine River which delineates the boundary between the then Republic of Texas and Louisiana. This is the second edition of the map, as issued in Senate Ex. Doc. 199, 27th Cong. 2nd Sess., 1842; the 1840 first edition was issued separately, on a much larger scale, and is exceedingly rare. This is one of six maps in the report on the Texas-U.S. boundary survey, and is the primary map, showing the boundary line along the Sabine; the other five maps were details from the present map.<br><br> Drawn by Lieut. T.J. Lee, U.S. Topographical Engineers, engraved on stone by W.J. Stone.
