DESCRIPTION: A fire insurance map of a portion of Southampton, New York. This unusual work contains three map sheets with a total of ten various maps.<br><br> Drawn on a scale of 50 feet to the inch, as such, it is very detailed. Structures are colored according to building material. Yellow are wooden frame, Red for brick, Blue for stone, etc. Also describes the Southampton Water Works and the amount of water produced. Also notes the Southampton Fire Department, 100 members and apparatus is listed as 1 hand pump, 1 force pump on wheels, 2 hose connections, 2 horse carts, 1 hook & L. truck and 1500' 2 1/2" stand. hose.<br><br> This is a privately produced work for the "exclusive use of W.N. Seely, Agent." <br><br> Maps include: Area around Lake Agawam. Main Street, Post Crossing, Main Street intersection and surrounds. Jobs Lane, Pond and Windmill Lane intersection. Main St, Job's Lane and Meeting House Lane. And Meeting House Lane, Oak, Pine and Walnut Streets.<br><br> This piece is very rare as there were only a limited number produced.<br><br>
