A disheveled man struggles to sew up his torn trousers, holes in his socks, surrounded by the wreckage of a room that’s the nineteenth century equivalent of having no bedframe, nothing but mustard in the kitchen, and not a houseplant in sight. A timeless portrait of life before the girlfriend effect brought curtains, throw pillows, and living greenery.
