DESCRIPTION: A pleasant map from a early edition of S. A. Mitchell's, "A New Universal Atlas containing maps of the various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World". Mitchell is one of the first truly successful commercial cartographers in the U.S.<br><br> The map shows the populated areas of the city shaded, which at the time ended at 29th Street.
