  • DESCRIPTION: A scarce and interesting Dutch produced celestial chart that takes the heavenly sphere and flattens it out in a Mercator-projection type format that depicts the constellations of both the northern and southern hemispheres on a single projection. A chart of measurements organized by zodiac sign is shown in the lower portion of the chart. First issued by Remmet Teunisse Backer in 1709. This version was reissued by the Ottens c.1750.
