• DESCRIPTION: A scarce separately issued map of the scoutheast.<br><br> This map first appeared in 1826 as a page in Finley's "A New American Atlas." This atlas was Finley's attempt to compete with Henry Tanner's American Atlas. Finley also published the maps as separately issued pocket maps until 1831 when he sold his map and atlas copyrights to S. A. Mitchell. Full original color with each county colored separately. Topographical table includes population by state from the 1820 census for "White, Free Black & Slave Population". Engraved by J. H. Young. Original leather covers, front detached but present.
