• DESCRIPTION: Gerard Valck (Valk) (1651-1726) and his son Leonard (1675-1755) were cartographers, printers and engravers in Amsterdam. The Valck family connects to the Schenk family (another great Dutch cartographic family) by partnerships and marriage beginning in the 1670’s. Over a period of years the Valk’s printed their own as well as acquiring and reprinting a number of plates from Blaeu and Jansson. Valk’s maps are known for their high quality engraving and coloring. Each major city and town on this map has been highlighted in red.
