Berenice Abbott took three images of the intersection of the Second and Third Avenue Els at Division Street and the Bowery. The intersection is just north of Chatham Square. Of the three images this noted as #3 was the one she chose. It is a dramatic image that is reminiscent of the great lithographs published in the late 1920's and early 1930's.Stamped on verso "Federal Art Project 'Changing New York' Photographs by Berenice Abbot'" and "Photograph Berenice Abbott 50 Commerce St. New York City." Titled and negative information on verso in pencil. 20th Century Subjects , New York City , Photography
