Proof before letters. Early in the twentieth century, artist Richard Rummell executed a very detailed series of bird's eye views of colleges, universities and prep schools around the country. For many midwestern and smaller schools, his views and the Elder views are virtually the only old, large views showing them in earlier times. The original issues have become increasingly scarce, but early restrikes do turn up.
