• DESCRIPTION: “Getting In” shows a young suitor hurriedly climbing into a cupboard to avoid discovery, his hiding place betrayed by the family dog. Its companion, “Getting Out,” follows the moment later when the same dog exposes him again as he scrambles from the cupboard while the mother grabs him by the ear. Both small-folio hand-colored lithographs carry the imprint “Lith. & Pub. by N. Currier, 152 Nassau St. cor. of Spruce,” placing their publication circa 1848–1856.

• CONDITION: Fair condition, good color. Tears, rubbing in image and mottling in the margins of Getting Out. Sold as a pair.
