From his Atlante Veneto, Venice, 1695-97.<br><br> One of the most famous and decorative charts of the Atlantic Ocean and its coasts by a master of Italian cartography. While few cities are shown, coastal features such as river mouths, points, harbors and capes are all named, as would be expected on a nautical chart such as this. Louisiana is not named; the entire Gulf coast, almost to the Rio Grande, is labelled Florida.
