  • DESCRIPTION: Title continues: "On the 24th of October, all that is mortal of Daniel Webster will be no more" - "Heavenly Father, forgive my sins, and receive me to thyself, through Christ Jesus." <br><br> Webster was born in Salisbury, New Hampshire on January 18, 1782. He graduated from Dartmouth College. Webster was a statesman, lawyer, and one of the finest orators the nation has ever seen. He opened his legal practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807 and in 1812 was elected to the United States House of Representatives. In 1816 he left the House and moved to Boston where he successfully argued cases before the Supreme Court. He returned as a Representative in 1823 and was elected Senator from Massachusetts in 1827.
