George Biddle

George Biddle - Painter, lithographer, teacher and writer - was born in Philadelphia. He studied Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Biddle was a member of "The Painter-Gravers of America," formed in 1915 along with fellow artists Childe Hassam,George Bellows, Boardman Robinson, Ernest D. Roth, George Elmer Brown, and Leo Meilziner. After 1917, Biddle formed a friendship with Mary Cassatt. Mary introduced George to her neice Ellen Mary Casset. Biddle fell in love with Ellen and drew her portrait on stone.
