George Hausdorf

Born and educated in Germany. In 1939 George Hausdorf accepted an invitation to help establish the first school of art in the Dominican Republic. After teaching for many years in the Dominican Republic (1948) he emigrated to the United States and settled in the New York City area. Hausdorf created landscapes, still life’s and portraits using oil, watercolor, pastel and etching (some of which he handcolored). He died in New York City in 1959.
