John Harmon Cassel
Illustration artist. Born in Nebraska to a pioneer family that had gone west from Indiana in 1856. The family settled in Otoe County where Cassel’s father, Job W. Cassel, was a miner and horticulturist. Attended Doane College in Nebraska from 1892 to 1894 but left to study art at the Art Institute of Chicago. Produced many images for magazines and newspapers.
