Philibert Bouttats Jr.

c. 1650 – c. 1722

Philibert Bouttats Jr. was a Flemish engraver active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, born in Antwerp into the prolific Bouttats family of printmakers. Likely the son of Frederik Bouttats the Younger, he is known for finely executed engraved portraits of European nobility and clergy, including Pope Innocent XI, John Sobieski of Poland, and the Dauphin of France. His work reflects the detailed burin technique characteristic of the Antwerp school, and he is considered among the more skilled members of his engraving dynasty. While biographical details remain scarce, his plates continued to circulate into the early 18th century.
