DESCRIPTION: View of Baden-Baden, located in the western foothills of the Black Forest, from the ruins of an old castle on a hillside. From the "Universum," a continuing series of views published in America and Germany during the 1840s and 1850s by Hermann J. Meyer and his father Joseph. In 1849 Hermann Meyer moved to New York, where he re-issued most of the American scenes before returning to Germany in 1857.
