As a prominent Amsterdam apothecary, Seba leveraged the Dutch trading fleets to build one of the era's most significant natural history collections. This plate displays a carefully composed group of butterflies, notably the South American Owl Butterfly (Brassolis sophorae), the Swallowtail (Parides anchises), and the Blue Moon Butterfly (Hypolimnas alimena).
