  • DESCRIPTION: Freebairn delin. [drawn by Robert Freebairn]. Buck sculp. [engraved by Samuel Buck]. The earliest part of the castle was built in 1325 and continues to be the most important sturcture in Lancaster. In the distance the canal called an aquaduct in this image which opened in 1797 and roses 19 meters above the river.
