  • DESCRIPTION: William Jennings Bryan (1860-1925) was a United States liberal Democrat and was chosen three times to run for presidency by the Democratic Party. During his lifetime he served in Congress, the House of Representatives, and as Secretary of State. Bryan supported Prohibition during the 1920's and was wholly against the theories of Darwinism and evolution, becoming known for his attacks against them in the Scopes Trial (otherwise known as The State of Tennessee v. Scopes).
