• DESCRIPTION: Hippolyte Victor Valentin Sebron (1801–1879) was a French artist known for his landscapes, cityscapes, and portraits, whose career took him across Europe, North America, and North Africa. Initially trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, he worked with Louis Daguerre on theatre dioramas, blending diverse cultural influences into his art. Despite challenges, such as the loss of many works during the 1848 Revolution, Sebron left behind a vibrant legacy.

In this lithograph, Dessine D'Arres Nature, Sebron is depicted taking a break from his work, allowing his likeness to be drawn as he sits beside his easel. Created by Baugniet and printed by J. Lots for the Societe des Beaux-Arts, the piece offers a candid glimpse of the artist in a moment of pause.
