  • DESCRIPTION: Engraved by J.B. Longacre from a painting by C. Harding. Bushrod Washington lived from 1762-1829. Though Bushrod was a slave owner he was, along with being a Supreme Court Justice, the president of the American Colonization Society (ACS), which was a foundation advocating for the return of freed slaces to Africa.
