  • DESCRIPTION: Endicott & Co. Lith. 59 Beekman St. New York. Built by Henry Steers. The Steamship Great Republic was built in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and launched November 8, 1866. She went into service as a passenger liner on the United States west coast. She was lost on a run between Portland, Oregon, and San Francisco running aground on Sand Island April 19, 1879.
