He visited the city in 1830 to make preparatory drawings for the views and the aquatints were published in the same year. The title of the other view is “Baltimore, from Federal Hill.” This print is described in Deak as “maximizing the appeal of the Maryland seaport from every point of view.” The harbor and wharves are shown with steamships and sailing vessels, including several Baltimore Clippers. The steeples that can be identified are, from left to right, those of Saint Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church, the German Reformed Church, and Christ Protestant Episcopal Church. Federal Hill is in the far left.
